Rumors are just that - rumors

With the Internet age upon us, NBA rumors have gone wild, especially around the trade deadline. I go to many NBA websites (the first thing I do when I wake up) to check on the latest rumors. They are fun to read and it is interesting to think about potential scenarios and such, but 99% of them are complete and utter bull shit.

Exhibit A: On Inside Hoops, ESPN Insider, and various other sites, there were rumors when Allen Iverson was on the block, that the Warriors were making a strong push to get Iverson to wear their uni. Headlines read, "Warriors are front-runners for Iverson." The rumor mill had the Warriors offering a package of Baron Davis and Andris Biedrins for Iverson. Other names as possible trade bate were Monta Ellis and Jason Richardson. It was learned later that not only were the Warriors never front-runners, but Baron, Biedrins, Monta, and J-Rich were never even offered. So, where did these rumors start?

Exhibit B: Jason Kidd to the Warriors for Jason Richardson and Adonal Foyle. Does this make sense? Let me reword it for you. An aging point guard with a few more good years left for the heart and soul of the Warriors, who is in the prime of his career...not to mention they already have Baron Davis and Monta Ellis at point.

Exhibit C: Where the hell were the rumors on the blockbuster 8-player trade with Indiana?

Like these experts, I'm a pretty good bull-shitter too. Hey, maybe I have a career in this.
