From Real GM:
How often are we going to hear from opposing teams fans or tv analysts that the Warriors are a poor defensive team?
I know they are going to look at points per game and say "GS defense sucks," but here are some numbers to throw out if you get into a discussion.
1. GS leads the league in steals
2. GS leads the league in TO's forced
3. GS is 2nd in the league in blocked shots
Now for the more in depth stats.
4. With Baron, JR, Jax, and Harrington in the lineup GS has a defensive points per 100 possessions of 103. For the year Dallas has 103.
5. With Baron, JR, Jax, and Harrington in the lineup GS has a defensive fg% of 45.2%. For the year Dallas has 44.7%
But what about rebounding?
6. With Baron, JR, Jax, and Harrington in the lineup GS rebounds 24% of their own misses and 70% of their opponents. For the Year Dallas gets 30% of their own misses and 72% of their opponents.
Yeah, but what about when Ellis replaced Biedrins?
7. Surprisingly their rebounding % increased, from 23% to 25% on offense and from 66% to 72% on defense.
8. Their defensive points per 100 possessions (from 102 to 103) and fg% (from 44% to 45 %) were slightly worse. However,
9. Their offensive points per 100 possessions went from 109 to 114. Dallas was at 111 for the year.
