I don't know about you, but I'm pretty tired of watching the terrible officiating
that constantly takes place during these NBA games. So what did I do? I went out and found a current refs application form. Here is what his application looked like.
1. Do you think offensive fouls are ruining the game?
No I do not. I love to reward guys for flopping. I mean, what's better than watching guys like Devin Harris take charges 50 feet away from the basket? I love watching the pass and crash, people flying 10 feet after getting bumped, and 7 footers just waiting to get run over. Now that's NBA basketball in its finest form.
2. Do you honestly look at the line under the basket to see if the defender's shoe strings are on it?
Of course I do. Where the defenders feet are is way more important than seeing if there is actually contact on the play.
3. Do you like to hear the sound of your own whistle?
I do. That is why, if hired, I will call a foul on every possession. Every time a player falls, there must be a foul, right? I especially like to call hand checks and fouls away from the ball just to slow the game down and make it a free throw contest.
4. Do you call more fouls against black players?
Yes I do. Just go look at all the findings being released right now. Oh, I forgot. There is an exception. I would love to call fouls on Andris Biedrins, especially when offensive players jump right into him.
5. Do you have a personal vendetta against Stephen Jackson? (Hint: There is only one option)
[x] Yes I do. I will throw him out of games for clapping and not let him get to the free throw line even if someone puts a Raja Bell clothes line on him.
There you have it. These are the qualifications needed if you want be become an NBA referee.
By writing this I don't mean that the refs are the reason the Warriors lost tonight, but I just felt like writing something about it anyways. The officiating really is pretty ridiculous. How does Barnes get T'd up, but not Boozer? Where was the foul call when Monta got hacked all over his arm? Whatever. Maybe I'll write something about the season once I cool down a little bit.
